Last summer, Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph forced a move by refusing to go on a pre-season trip with the Whites to Germany. Daniel Farke shared his frustration over the situation at the time.
Real Betis were keen and appeared confident of signing the striker on favourable terms. Leeds United didn’t accept their conditions, allowing RCD Mallorca to sign him on loan in August.
Thursday’s edition of [Marca](https://www.marca.com/) has published an interview with the 22-year-old about his future and several other topics.
The newspaper have been curious to know why Mateo Joseph decided to join Mallorca. He explained manager Jagoba Arrasate and sporting director Pablo Ortells convinced him to pick the La Liga side.
_“In the end, Mallorca did an exceptional job, both the sporting director and the manager. They conveyed the confidence they had in me, and that convinced me from the very beginning. They knew me very well and had a lot of faith in me, and I want to repay that confidence,”_ he said.
Leeds United player bats for La Liga against Premier League

The Leeds United owned player is yet to fully repay the faith shown by Arrasate and Ortells. He’s scored two goals and contributed two assists in 11 league matches so far.
Mallorca signed Mateo Joseph on a dry loan deal, meaning he’ll have to return to Leeds United after this season. He has a contract at Elland Road until 2028.
Marca asked the Spaniard whether he would like to stay at Mallorca beyond his loan spell.
_“Yes, I’m very happy here. But, well, you never know. I’d say it doesn’t really depend on me right now, but we’ll see,”_ Joseph explained.
On the difference between the Premier League and the La Liga, he added: _“There’s a difference in how the game is played. I wouldn’t say the Premier League is superior to the Spanish league. I think that in these Champions League matches, English teams have had more wins, but if we look back a bit, we see that Spanish teams have achieved more victories in Europe.”_
Mallorca are currently 15th in the table so it’s unlikely they’ll have to worry about that.
