Opinion: Everton's plans for the Hill Dickinson Stadium that are just as exciting as hosting…

Everton are set to be one of the host venues for the 2028 European Championships, with the schedule being released on Wednesday evening.

It is a huge step forward for Everton just months on from leaving Goodison Park for their new home on the docks.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium has proven a huge success in the early stages since becoming the new home of the Blues.

David Moyes has only seen his side lose once on home soil this season and entered the international break on the back of a dominant win over Fulham.

However, there are some early teething problems being experienced, with Everton fans frustrated by the stadium’s transport links.

But the club has some exciting plans in place for their new home, which could be even bigger than hosting at the upcoming Euros.

Everton set to increase stadium capacity for the Euros

Andy Burnham thinks Everton’s stadium is even better than Tottenham’s because of the atmosphere generated inside.

One thing that the Hill Dickinson cannot live up to, though, is the extra 10,000 seats which Spurs have packed into their north London home.

However, Everton do plan to increase the Hill Dickinson Stadium’s capacity ahead of the Euros in 2028.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that the Toffees were planning to boost their 52,888 to around 57,679 before hosting the tournament.

There have even been suggestions that the capacity could be increased even further.

It was recently claimed that Everton could increase their stadium capacity to around 62,000 if they wanted to.

The extra revenue generated through more ticket sales would be a huge boost to the club’s finances, but it would also create an improved atmosphere.

Having already seen the volume levels praised, adding another 10,000 Evertonians could make the new stadium deafening to the opposing teams.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium has been a game-changer for Everton

Had the Blues still been playing their football at Goodison, these games for the 2028 Euros would have likely gone elsewhere.

However, the Toffees are not sitting at the top table when it comes to stadia.

Fulham fans were blown away by the Hill Dickinson Stadium at the weekend as they got their first experience of Everton’s new home.

Through moving, Everton’s finances have been boosted through the new stadium, with a big naming rights deal in place.

But being able to increase the stadium’s capacity is perhaps even more exciting than hosting the Euros, with more Everton fans potentially set to get the opportunity to attend games.
