Matty Cash has had a reasonable start to the season with Aston Villa.
The right-back has played 15 matches and scored two goals. This includes a winner in Aston Villa’s victory over Manchester City and a goal in their draw against Sunderland.
Cash has extended his Aston Villa form with Poland. He scored in their draw against the Netherlands and in their win over Finland.
Poland manager Jan Urban has included the 28-year-old in his squad for the ongoing international break. This gave WP SportoweFakty an opportunity to speak to the fullback on topics related to Aston Villa and the national team.
On October 27th, Unai Emery’s side rewarded Cash with a new contract until 2029, with an option for another year.
Unai Emery key for Aston Villa stay
The Polish outlet asked the defender whether he had offers to leave recently. He confirmed he’d snubbed proposals in order to fulfil his goals with Aston Villa.
“I had several offers this summer. A few names were mentioned in the media, from the Premier League and abroad,” he said.
“From the beginning, however, I thought about staying at Aston Villa. I like it here, I’m developing. Last year we were playing in the Champions League, and we’re still competing in European competitions.
“I’m about to reach 200 appearances for the club. I still have five more to go. I have goals to achieve here. And in four years, I’m going to Legia Warsaw!”
The Poland international explained Emery influenced his decision to continue at Aston Villa.
“I’m staying put at Birmingham for now. We have a great coach. He believes in me. We quickly agreed on a new contract,” Cash explained.
“Emery is an excellent tactician. A very brilliant and intelligent coach. He understands the game. Can help you and the team develop. Working with him is a pleasure. He’s the best coach I’ve ever had.”
