Jeremy Doku can become the most famous Belgian of all time if he continues his current performances for Manchester City.
That’s according to journalist Jan Mulder. He’s full of praise for the Manchester City star in [his column for Humo.](https://www.humo.be/meningen/jan-mulder-jeremy-doku-kan-de-beste-en-beroemdste-belg-aller-tijden-worden~b2fc479b/) In fact, he likens him to Brazilian icon Garrincha.
Doku heads into the international break with Belgium on the back of perhaps his best performance for Manchester City to date.
The 23-year-old was the undisputed star man in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool before the international break. The Belgian winger terrorised Connor Bradley throughout that game, as well as any other Liverpool players who tried to stop him.
He also managed a superb solo goal to cap off a man of the match performance that demonstrated his talents clearly.
The Manchester City star appears to have taken a step up in his game this season, particularly when it comes to final product. That’s seen him earning rave reviews and praise from all corners.
Mulder is jumping on that train and believes the Belgian could be on his way to legendary status. In fact, he thinks he’s already matching a Brazilian icon.
_“If Doku sees five centimetres of space between four players, he slips through,”_ he said.
_“When someone has delivered an exceptionally good or beautiful performance, the people of Groningen say: “Could have been worse.” Today, I won’t do that._
_“I’ve seen Jeremy Doku and am desperately searching for lyricism to do justice to his game, to match his dribbling, to explain this spectacle on football boots._
_“Is Doku on his way to becoming the best Belgian footballer of all time? Better than Van Himst, Van Moer, Hazard, and De Bruyne? Because Doku touched that podium full of golden boots on that unforgettable Sunday._
_“I’ve studied the images of all the illustrious dribblers on the touchline again. Garrincha, Stanley Matthews, Rüdiger Abramzcik, Nacka Skoglund, George Best, Jørgen Kristensen, Bertus de Harder._
_“Doku’s skills bear striking similarities to Garrincha’s. Receiving the ball and standing still, feigning a dribble with his hips, doing nothing, moving his foot menacingly back and forth above the ball, remaining still. And suddenly, Garrincha and Doku are out of sight at a devastating speed down the sideline._
_“On Sunday, November 9th, it was the turn of the champions Liverpool to get dizzy. If manager Guardiola plays him every week, Jeremy Doku will become the best and most famous Belgian of all time.”_
