German press reacts cooly as sensational Harry Kane to Barcelona rumors surface

German media sources such as Kicker and Transfermarkt are relaying reports from the Guardian and Spanish portal “Sport” regarding Barcelona’s targeting of superstar striker Harry Kane. The Catalans are once again looking to the Bundesliga in hopes of plucking their next top attacker from German record champions Bayern Munich.

The rumors certainly make for sensational headlines and it is likely that Barça (and indeed anyone else) would love to sign the man currently considered to be the world’s most in-form footballer. Recent statements from Kane, not to mention the former Bayern man he would presumably be replacing, nevertheless suggest that nothing concrete has transpired yet.

Bundesliga record-holder Robert Lewandowski (as quoted by Transfermarkt) remains comfortable with the La Liga champions and looks forward to potentially extending his contract. Kane too plans on entering contract extension negotiations with Bayern this coming January and can well imagine remaining in Germany after the expiration of his current deal in 2027.

“*I can definitely imagine it remaining staying [beyond 2027],*” Kane remarked at the beginning of October. “I *am extremely happy here and we’re enjoying a fantastic run-of-form. As of right now, I’m fully in with Bayern Munich.*”
