Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka has spoken out about Leeds United star Noah Okafor as the national team prepares for the upcoming break. Okafor was not called up despite his performances this season.
But it has been said that the technical team are keeping an eye on his performances ahead of the World Cup. The forward is one of the summer signings that have actually impressed since arriving at Elland Road. Match fitness kept him out of the first few games, but he has picked up some form since then.

Granit Xhaka speaks on Leeds United star Noah Okafor
Xhaka, who is having a much better season with Sunderland in the Premier League season, has been speaking about Okafor after his absence from the latest Switzerland squad. The midfielder believes that the Leeds man has a lot of potential, but should continue to work hard despite the news surrounding his time with the national team.
“I had a phone conversation with Noah before his interview. Naturally, the national team was also a topic of discussion,” Xhaka said, speaking to news outlet Blick.
“It’s difficult for me to comment on this topic at all without knowing all the details. He was given opportunities at the European Championship and the World Cup.
“For my part, I would realistically assess the situation: Why am I not making it? Why am I not in the squad?
“I don’t know. I’m just saying that I think it’s good to maintain contact. Noah has great potential. He hasn’t shown it often enough in recent years. He’s really coming into his own now at Leeds. The league suits him,” he explained.
“Nevertheless, Noah could play a role in the future if he gets a better handle on certain things. Sometimes you have to look down, shut up, and work. That applies to everyone, including me. In the end, performance on the pitch is what counts.”
Leeds United man has a bright future
Granit Xhaka has said what needs to be said regarding Noah Okafor; the Leeds man has to keep his head down and work his way back into the national team. Okafor is on the right path this season, showing glimpses of brilliance in games.
It has not helped that the Whites do not have much quality in attack to complement him. Sometimes in games, the winger seems to be the only one trying to make things happen. He has been a solid addition to the team, but Leeds must demand more from the forward if they are to survive in the Premier League this season.
