November 13 – Former England international Raheem Sterling had his Berkshire home burgled for a second time in three years on Saturday evening.

Intruders entered his house while he and his family were inside. A statement from Sterling’s representatives confirmed the incident, saying: “Raheem and his children were present at the time. We are thankful to be able to confirm that he and his loved ones are all safe.”

Back in 2022, Sterling’s home in Surrey was targeted during the World Cup in Qatar. That break-in forced him to fly home from England’s camp before returning later in the tournament.

Three years on, Sterling finds himself in a very different place and further away from the England team than at any time in his career. Formerly one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s team sheet and a serial winner with Manchester City, he now finds himself on the fringes at Chelsea, part of what’s been described as the club’s “bomb squad.”

Sterling’s decline is difficult to watch for anyone who remembers his best when he drove City to titles and carried England’s attack in major tournaments. The talent hasn’t vanished, but the momentum has.

It has been said that football is a ruthless business, and Sterling is a prime example of that, as one minute he was indispensable and the next, he’s yesterday’s news.

For Sterling, the question is whether he can find some redemption at Chelsea or will he ride out his reported £300,000 pounds a week contract for another two years.
