Chelsea midfielder gets emotional – Has heart set on future transfer

Chelsea’s Andrey Santos has once again made clear that his heart remains tied to Vasco da Gama.

In a press conference relayed by TNT Sports Brazil, the midfielder expressed deep affection for the club that formed him and revealed he still dreams of returning.

“When it’s about Vasco, it touches my heart,”Andrey said.“I was very happy there. In 2022, I helped, together with my teammates, to bring Vasco back to the top flight. I still talk a lot with PH[a Vasco player].I even joked with him about the Copa do Brasil because we really need that title. Vasco have a huge fan base and deserve it.”

The 21-year-old joined Vasco at the age of six and stayed for twelve years before moving to Chelsea in early 2023. Although he avoids making promises, Andrey admits that a comeback is part of his long-term thoughts.

“It’s difficult to talk about my return, I don’t like to create expectations,” he said.“But of course I’m very grateful to Vasco. It’s my club, the one that raised me as a person and as a player. One day, yes, I think about coming back to bring even more happiness to the fans.”

Andrey remains focused on consolidating his position at Chelsea for now, where Enzo Maresca has given him increasing responsibility in midfield. Still, his words leave no doubt about the emotional link with his boyhood team.

The Premier League and Brazil national team are his immediate priorities, but the bond with Vasco continues to guide part of his football identity. A connection that time and distance have not erased.
