Liverpool’s summer departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich left a gaping hole in Arne Slot’s attack that hasn’t been adequately filled.

The Colombian’s sale for represented a significant loss of creative impetus down the left flank. Diaz’s pace and trickery made him invaluable for taking defenders on in one-on-one situations, a quality that remains absent from the current squad.

While Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo were signed to bolster attacking depth, neither possesses the same capacity to consistently beat opponents in direct duels.

This missing element—a winger capable of explosive individual brilliance—has proven increasingly costly as Liverpool struggle to break down compact defenses this season,

However, it seems the club has recognised this, at least according to reports in Germany.

According to Sport BILD, with the Reds now firmly in the hunt for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

The 18-year-old Ivorian winger has attracted interest from an impressive array of elite clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer recently acknowledged the mounting speculation, stating the club is “planning firmly with our squad beyond the summer” and viewing Diomande as part of their new core.

The Anfield club faces stiff competition from across the continent as they track RB Leipzig’s teenage sensation Yan Diomande, who has taken the Bundesliga by storm since his summer arrival.

After just ten LaLiga appearances for Leganes earlier this year, Leipzig paid €20 million to secure his services in the summer.

The German club has already quintupled his valuation, slapping a massive €100 million price tag on the teenager with no release clause in his contract that runs until 2030.

His playing style combines explosive pace, fearless one-on-one ability, and exceptional ball-carrying skills—exactly the profile Liverpool desperately need.

Described as a “street footballer” for his technical prowess in direct duels, Diomande ranks in the 99th percentile among European wingers for progressive carries (7.10 per 90) and successful take-ons (4.34 per 90).

Leipzig directot Schäfer added of the teenager:

“Yan has found his way around the Bundesliga very quickly. Especially when you consider that he is still in his first year as a professional and is very young,” says Schäfer.

“He’s on the right track, but, like all the other players, there’s still a lot of potential for development. We are very much looking forward to exploiting this together in the coming years.”

“However, we are firmly planning with our squad beyond the summer and have always emphasized that we want to build a new axis after the upheaval. He is just emerging and will give us a lot of joy.”
