Newcastle United have had the ideal boost ahead of their crunch clash with Manchester City next weekend.
The Magpies were beaten 3-1 at Brentford but the game plan was complicated when Joelinton went down injured in the early stages at the Gtech Stadium before eventually being forced off after just 24 minutes. The Brazilian was in discomfort as he sat slumped on the ground with the decision to replace him a tough one for Eddie Howe.
Despite Joelinton's omission from the Brazil squad for games against Senegal at the Emirates Stadium then in Lille for a clash Tunisia initially being classes as a blow for the midfield enforcer, the snub may have ended up being a blessing in disguise. Chronicle Live understands that after assessment Joelinton has got away with just a cut following a challenge from Dango Outtara.
Outtara knee-high challenge was a major concern for Toon medics at the time with images showing a nasty cut to the star's leg and a concern that there may have been further damage.
However, United sources say that Joelinton has been assessed and will continue to be monitored with the hope at the training ground that the ex-Hoffenheim man will be ready to face City.
Howe had stated on Sunday at his post-game Press conference: "Joelinton, I'm not sure, it looked like a knock, but it was obviously enough for him to go off. I haven't had a full discussion or debrief from the medical team on him. He was a big miss today."
But Howe can now include Joelinton in his preparations for the visit of Pep Guardiola's side and there is also belief that he could be joined by Tino Livramento. The ex-Chelsea youngster has not been in action since September when he came off with a knee injury against Arsenal.
Livramento just missed out on the Brentford squad but Howe is eyeing the City game as his potential comeback date. Livramento has been out for 10 matches in all competitions.
Howe said last Friday: "Tino is still on track, we are looking at the Manchester City game for him for when he can be available."
The black and whites also continue to assess Anthony Gordon's hip problem but the bang to the England man's side is only described as a 'minor injury'.
Gordon missed the England games against Serbia and Albania and was withdrawn from the Three Lions camp on Sunday. After coming off injured against Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League during the 2-0 win at St James' Park, he was left out of the squad for Brentford.
