**Former Newcastle United forward Jon Dahl Tomasson became the first person ever to be sacked as Sweden head coach after the last international break.**
Graham Potter was handed the borderline impossible task of rescuing Sweden's World Cup Qualifying hopes by being handed a short-term contract until March to turn things around.
Tomasson's sacking came just hours after their 1-0 defeat to Kosovo, after which Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga was reportedly heard in the tunnel launching a furious tirade.
Elanga questioned the system the team was playing and demanded that something needed to change.

Graham Potter has a mammoth task ahead
Anthony Elanga doesn't quite know whether to admit or deny

Those quotes were widely reported, and it was expected that they would make Elanga's position in the squad very fragile. However, Tomasson was sacked and Potter has stuck with Elanga, who denied all knowledge of those comments when speaking to [Aftonbladet](https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotboll/a/nykKvo/anthony-elangas-ord-om-utbrottet-jag-kommer-inte-ihag).
> “I don’t remember. There were a lot of things that happened and we lost the match.“But now we are here and we have a new national manager. It is important that we get the right conditions for how we are going to play against Switzerland.”“I don’t think it was the system. We didn’t play that great.“Now we have more opportunities to do better. First and foremost, we will try to win matches and get to the World Cup. I don’t remember if that’s what was said or if that’s what I said.“A lot was said, there were a lot of people in the tunnel and a lot happened. But I’m focusing on what’s happening now.

Nothing but a win will do for Sweden on Saturday
------------------------------------------------
If the football thing doesn't work out, then Elanga has got a career in politics. Denying something you said that was caught in 4K is a very bold move.
Sweden take on Switzerland on Saturday, and nothing but a win will really do for them at this point.
Let's hope for Potter's sakethat he's tweaked the system. He doesn't want to face the wrath of Elanga.
