The Premier League have just announced something that could help Leeds United stay up (opinion)

Leeds fans are fearing relegation after a 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest last time out.

Daniel Farke is under pressure after Leeds suffered back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Nottingham Forest, shipping three goals in each game in what were feeble performances.

With clashes against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool to come, fans are understandably concerned, but a slight positive has now emerged after Everton vs Arsenal was rearranged by the Premier League.

Leeds United’s relegation rivals Burnley could drop points after Everton vs Arsenal rearrangement

Everton vs Arsenal was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday 21st December, but has since been moved to Saturday 20th December after the north Londoners requested a change, due to a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace on Tuesday 23rd December.

How does this help Leeds? Well, Everton now have an extra 24 hours to prepare for a Premier League clash against our relegation rivals Burnley on Saturday 27th December.

Burnley are currently a point behind Leeds and are expected to be lodged in the relegation battle alongside the Whites, so Everton would be doing Farke a huge favour if they beat the Clarets.

One extra day to prepare might not seem like much, but amid a congested fixture schedule around the festive period, it could prove decisive.

How the Carabao Cup quarter-final impacts Leeds

On the same weekend, Leeds were scheduled to play Crystal Palace on Sunday 21st December, but that has also been moved to Saturday 20th December due to that Carabao Cup quarter-final between the Gunners and the Eagles.

It means Leeds now have an additional 24 hours to prepare for a trip to Sunderland on Sunday 28th December, which could prove to be vital given how strongly the Wearsiders have started this season.

In a tight division where fine margins matter, these fixtures changes may well be the difference between one point or three points for Farke, who desperately needs to see some improvement from his side.
