Leeds United misses training with mysterious injury – National team worry

Leeds United defender Gabriel Gudmundsson missed training with Sweden on Thursday after seemingly picking up an injury.

That’s [according to Fotboll Skanalen](https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/sverige/gudmundsson-missar-traning/), who report that the Leeds defender has missed training today. This has been done as “a safety measure” according to press officer Petra Thorén.

Sweden trained today ahead of Saturday’s away game against Switzerland in World Cup qualifying. Hugo Larsson was already missing from the group due to injury and now Gudmundsson has been added to the list.

He missed training ‘due to a feeling’. In other words, he felt something and Sweden have decided not to risk him. What the injury might be, isn’t made clear.

But the Leeds man watched training from the sidelines, where he took pictures with people who were present at the start of the session. He did not participate in the session, though. That will be a potential blow to Sweden and new manager Graham Potter. The Leeds United defender was a regular under previous managed Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Leeds United will be paying close attention

[Aftonbladet](https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotboll/a/739O4K/gabriel-gudmundsson-missade-traning-tva-dagar-innan-sveriges-match-en-liten-kanning) add their own information. They say there are ‘question marks’ around the Leeds United man and confirm he didn’t take part in training today.

There are also more quotes from Thorén, who has insisted any decisions on the defender will be made by the medical team.

_“He has a little feeling,”_ the Swedish press officer is quoted as saying. _“It is a safety measure. There is an individual plan for him.”_

_“Only the medical team can answer that,”_ was the quote provided when asked if he will train tomorrow. Again, there is no mention of the nature of the injury. But it is a blow for Sweden, who will have been relying on having everyone available for two games that are crucial to their failing World Cup hopes.

Leeds United will be watching.
