Chelsea want to sign Julian Alvarez
The 25-year-old has exploded since he moved to Spain from Manchester City, and his form has gained him links with the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal alongside the West London Blues.
The 2022 World Cup winner has been in some form this season, given his nine goals and five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 campaign.
And it is that output, along with his ability to operate in that #9 role or even drop off as a second striker, that makes him the kind of versatile player that big clubs like Chelsea are looking to bring to the table.
Barcelona are looking at Alvarez to take on the attacking reins from Robert Lewandowski, with the Polish striker being in the twilight of his career. While PSG are looking to build on their roster to build on that Champions League win last season.
While if we speak about Chelsea, while the Blues brought in Liam Delap and João Pedro in the summer, the West Londoners still lack that high-volume goal scorer. And that is certainly not going to change even with Emanuel Emegha coming in next year.
And this is where Julian Alvarez comes into the picture.

Do Chelsea need Alvarez?
With Cole Palmer being injured, we have seen Chelsea not having a player who would grab the limelight every time the Blues take the field. But with the fact that Chelsea already have Liam Delap and João Pedro in the roster, with Emanuel Emegha joining up next year, it raises a question for where the 25-year-old fits in at the Bridge. He could maybe play in that second striker role with Enzo Maresca giving him more freedom to express himself (something very similar to how Pedro plays when he is starting with Delap).
Though given other areas on the pitch that the West Londoners need to bring in reinforcements, it is something that wouldn’t be on the top of the Blues’ priority list.
