Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti talked to AS in an interview where he shared some thoughts about the current state of affairs in the Spanish capital.
“I can’t give him any advice. I watch all the Madrid matches because I want to see how the Brazilians are doing and I see the team is doing very well. They have won almost all the matches, but unfortunately in football you can’t always win. Sometimes you have to draw. One thing I learned at Real Madrid is that a draw here is the prelude to a crisis. No jokes. You have to get used to that. Ancelotti also tried to explain what happened during the 2024-25 season, his last campaign in the club.
“What happened is that we lost the entire starting defense. We lost Carvajal and Militao, and Rüdiger played with a serious problem. And luckily Asencio came up from the youth team and did very well. Let no one forget that many times I had to put Valverde at right back and Tchouameni at center back, which left the midfield with significant absences. We lost solidity at the back and that cost us titles. I don’t think it was because of Kroos, because we adapted to playing with other midfielders like Camavinga, Ceballos, Bellingham, Tchouameni, or Valverde. Güler also kept improving and is now doing very well. We have great midfielders, but looking for another Kroos or Modric is impossible,” he added.
Militao. Vinicius and Rodrygo continue to be important players for the Brazilian national team, while Endrick will try to earn a spot in the squad list for the 2026 FIFA Club World Cup if he ends up leaving Real Madrid on a loan deal.
