Patrick Bamford is finally back in football after agreeing a deal to join Championship strugglers Sheffield United. Bamford's time at Leeds United came to an end in the summer when the player and club agreed to end his contract after the Whites' promotion to the Premier League, with Daniel Farke having spoken about his tough conversation to let the striker know he wouldn't feature in his plans.

The 32-year-old had hoped to move straight into a new deal but hasn't been able to settle on a suitable club, until now. The ex-Chelsea. Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough man will link up with Chris Wilder and the Blades as they bid to fight their way out of the relegation zone after a woeful start to the season which cost Ruben Selles his job and saw Wilder brought back in.

Bamford will have little time to find his feet though and will have to hit the ground running after being given a deal that only runs until January.

The Blades don't play again until Sunday November 23, when they face off against bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday. They play a further eight times in 2025 in what is a busy end to the year, so Bamford will get an opportunity, but it's one he will have to take if he is to stay at the club for the second half of the season.

It will be a tough test for the former England man, who has not played a game since coming off the bench for 11 minutes in Leeds' Championship win at Plymouth on May 3, seven months ago. Without a club he had previously been training at Coventry City.

Bamford has to go back two seasons for his last goal in April 2024, but will hope he finds the back of the net again for the Blades soon.
