Arne Slot will be hopeful that none of his Liverpool players return from the international break with fresh injuries.
The Dutchman has already had to navigate a poor run of games without names he would have loved to rely on.
Chief among them is Alisson, who has missed the last five matches after suffering a hamstring injury during the Champions League defeat to Galatasaray in late September.
The 33-year-old is expected to return after the November international break for the fixture against Nottingham Forest.
Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s record-breaking summer signing from Newcastle United, has endured a difficult start to life at Anfield.
The Swedish striker was forced off at halftime against Eintracht Frankfurt with a groin injury and missed three weeks of action.
While Isak returned to training and was named on the bench for the Manchester City defeat, Slot opted not to risk him, with the forward still working his way back to full match fitness.
Sweden boss Graham Potter has said this week that there are “no issues” with the Liverpool No.9.
And some more positive news has emerged on the injury front, with Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail reporting that Stefan Bajcetic is back on the grass:
Bajcetic has been back on the grass at the AXA Training Centre, which is a good sign after surgery in the summer. It remains the case that he could get some minutes for the Under 21s.
The 20-year-old Spanish midfielder sustained a serious hamstring injury while on loan at Las Palmas in May, forcing him to undergo surgery that ruled him out for the entirety of pre-season and the opening months of the 2025-26 campaign.
The decision to keep Bajcetic at Liverpool rather than pursue another loan move was initially surprising, particularly given interest from several Spanish clubs including Valencia, Real Betis, and Girona throughout the summer transfer window.
However, Tyler Morton’s permanent transfer to Lyon and James McConnell’s loan to Ajax left Arne Slot’s squad thin in deeper midfield positions, and the decision was for him to remain on Merseyside.
