Daniel Farke has been given an injury scare after one of his important Leeds United stars was forced to miss training while on international duty.

Gabriel Gudmundsson is currently away with the Swedish national side, who are preparing to face Switzerland on Saturday in a match that could end the Scandinavian country's slim hopes of qualifying for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the USA next year.

But Sweden were dealt an early blow when it was revealed that Leeds left-back Gudmundsson did not participate in a team training session on Thursday.

The news is not what Farke would have hoped to hear, as he sweats on the fitness of 16 players out in international duty from Elland Road this week, but thankfully it would appear that Gudmundsson's omission was more of a precautionary measure.

Scandinavian media outlet fotbollskanalen has been told by Sweden's press officer Petra Thoren that Gudmundsson will miss the session due to a concussion, calling his absence "a safety measure".

Gudmundsson, who has been an ever-present for Leeds this season, instead stood on the sidelines, taking photographs of the session.

It is not yet clear whether the 26-year-old will be passed fit to face Group B leaders Switzerland on Saturday, but Farke will be more concerned that one of his key defenders returns back fit and well as Leeds look to avert a slump in form that has put their manager under growing pressure.
