The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t the same team they were last season, although they are still a threat and should be feared by their opponents. But everyone agrees that things feel different this year.

Some fans aren’t pleased with the output from defensive lineman Chris Jones, who hasn’t been as punishing as usual. In response, head coach Andy Reid weighed in on Jones’ recent struggles.

“I think we all need to do better, I would say that,” Reid said. “Chris is always striving to do better every day. That’s what has made him such a good player. Again, he’s the guy that they’re going to focus on, and if you’re getting a double team, that’s who’s getting doubled. He’ll get his as we go forward, it’s just important that he stays consistent and keeps working hard.”

In nine games this season, Jones has just 2.0 sacks with eight quarterback hits. Last year, he had a total of 5.0 sacks and 20 QB hits in 15 games, after posting 26.0 sacks in the previous two seasons combined.

The Chiefs didn’t make any big moves before the NFL trade deadline when it comes to the defensive line, which means they need Jones to figure out whatever is bothering him and fix it as soon as possible. He still has a ton of talent, so he will need to work with the coaching staff to get back on track.

The Chiefs would love to see Jones enhance his game in Week 11, when they face the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos. If there was any time for Jones to play with more authority and grit, it would be now.
