As Patrick Bamford joins Sheffield United on a short-term deal, when will his contract expire?

Championship cult hero Patrick Bamford has signed a new contract with Sheffield United, the club has confirmed.

The 32-year-old left Leeds United when his contract expired at the end of last season, and has been a free agent ever since.

But today, Sheffield United confirmed they have signed the English striker on a short-term deal, lasting until the end of January 2026.

A club spokesperson said: “Patrick Bamford has agreed a short-term contract until January with the Blades and brings with him a wealth of experience at Premier League and Championship level.”

Bamford twice won top-flight promotion with Leeds, who did not renew his contract at the end of last season, in which he made 18 appearances in total.

He began his career at Nottingham Forest and after joining Chelsea in 2012 he had loan spells at MK Dons, Derby, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Norwich and Burnley before making a permanent move to Boro in 2017.

Bamford scored 17 goals in 38 Premier League games for Leeds during the 2020-21 season and made his only senior England appearance against Andorra in a World Cup qualifier in September 2021.
