Giants Linked to Head Coach With 11th Most Wins in NFL History to Replace Brian Daboll

After firing head coach Brian Daboll, the New York Giants now face some difficult decisions moving forward.

There should be numerous names for the Giants to pursue, especially when considering that the organization boasts an elite defense, a promising young quarterback, and is based in one of the biggest markets.

There aren’t many who wouldn’t want to coach in New York City, so the Giants will at least have that on their side.

Among the potential options, there will likely be a few current coaches who will get fired throughout the remainder of the year or early in the offseason.

It remains uncertain which coaches will get fired, but only time will tell.

When examining potential names for the Giants to pursue, Ian O'Connor of The Athletic brought up an intriguing one, despite the likelihood that he won't be fired or that the Pittsburgh Steelers will cut ties with him.

That was none other than head coach Mike Tomlin, who has been one of the more successful head coaches in the NFL during his tenure.

"The Steelers coach has ripped off 18 consecutive non-losing seasons (15 of them winning seasons) and is working on No. 19," O'Connor wrote.

"He is a card-carrying tough guy and a two-time Super Bowl participant and one-time champ who would be a human firewall against the disastrous seasons the Giants regularly serve up to their paying customers."

On the surface, moving on from someone like Tomlin from the Steelers’ perspective would never really make much sense, considering the team would be worse without him as its head man.

However, on the other hand, the Steelers haven’t had much success over the past few years, and the organization might believe it’s best to move on from Tomlin, preferably in a mutually agreeable way.

If Tomlin were indeed to move on from the Steelers for whatever reason, there wouldn’t be a better option out there for the Giants to look at.
