Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have, again, withdrawn their interest in taking over a new club, as Thursday’s news also brought murmurings of transfer stories.

FSG have made it no secret that they want to add a second football club to their portfolio, and recently identified La Liga’s Getafe as a possible avenue to pursue in a deal worth over £100 million.
Members of FSG’s hierarchy travelled to Spain to conduct a thorough investigation of the club, but Spanish outlet Marca has now reported they have decided to withdraw interest.

It is reported that FSG believe Getafe needs ‘aggressive’ short-term investment, but La Liga’s financial rules ensure they are limited by their revenue, meaning there can be no ‘quick fix’.
The situation, therefore, would be prohibitive to FSG’s plans as the Spanish club needs an investment in its ageing squad, which is restricted by the spending limits.
Liverpool’s owners have run the rule over 25 different clubs across Europe, including a deal for Bordeaux that fell through last year, but their search looks set to continue.
Crazy to think one deal for Alexander Isak would buy you a football club. Transfer fees are wild.

Andy Robertson will be a free agent in the summer and Sam Millne has put the case forward for why the veteran should be offered a new contract:
“Aside from his on-field ability, Slot should be aiming to keep his vice-captain around for his experience and mentality.
“It is sometimes forgotten by supporters just how crucial it is to have relentless trainers and leaders in the squad. Liverpool arguably wouldn’t have been the force they were under Klopp if it weren’t for James Milner‘s presence despite not playing every match.
“Robertson was developed under Milner’s watch; he has grown alongside Van Dijk; he knows what it takes to win and win ruthlessly.”
