Man United hold talks with Bundesliga star’s agent – his ‘quality and speed are incredible’

According to German outlet Bild, Manchester United have joined the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.

The report further claims that the Red Devils have contacted Adeyemi’s agent, Jorge Mendes, who has strong ties with the club, about a potential move.

There is uncertainty regarding the Germany international’s future at Dortmund, following the growing tension with manager Niko Kovac.

Yet, the German side want to extend his contract, which expires in 2027, but they want to do so on their own terms.

Adeyemi wants a long-term contract with a reported €80 million release clause, but Dortmund are opposed to that.

Adeyemi would struggle at Man United

Described as a player whose ‘quality and speed are incredible‘ by former Red Bull Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle, Adeyemi can tear defences apart on his day.

However, he is too inconsistent to play for a team of Man United’s size. For instance, he registered three goal involvements in his first five Bundesliga games this season, but has not registered any since then.

Adeyemi has made 121 appearances for Dortmund, registering just 51 goal involvements, further underlining his inconsistency.

Besides that, several players who have excelled in the Bundesliga have struggled in the Premier League — United flop Jadon Sancho being a prime example.

He is also likely to struggle under manager Ruben Amorim, just as Alejandro Garnacho, who shares a similar profile, did under the Dutch tactician.

He relies heavily on his speed and dribbling, making him unsuitable to play as one of the number 10s in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

Rather than targeting Adeyemi to bolster their attack, United should target another proven forward, such as the sensational Bryan Mbeumo, who they signed last summer.
