The Giants will have a spot to fill this offseason after the team fired head coach Brian Daboll following yet another collapse in Sunday’s game against the Bears.
And as the names of potential replacements circulate, former Giants running back Tiki Barber threw his opinion out there on WFAN this week.
“As much as I would love to go the young whippersnapper who’s going to be an offensive genius, I do think they need someone who’s done it before, and the obvious answer is Mike McCarthy,” Barber said.
McCarthy was most recently head coach of the Cowboys from 2020 to 2024. He was fired last offseason after putting up a 49-35 regular season record with four postseason appearances in his five years.
Before that, McCarthy spent 13 years as head coach of the Packers and won a championship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He was dismissed in December 2018.
McCarthy sat out the 2019 season and then interviewed with the Giants before joining the Cowboys. But New York instead hired then-Patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge.
