President Donald Trump took heat at the Commanders-Lions matchup Sunday. The halftime crowd didn’t hold back when he showed up for a military ceremony.

The only good thing that happened on that day was probably his touching moment with a young commander’s fan in the tunnel. However, a former Washington cheerleader jumped to the president’s defense days after the match, and she allegedly blamed the city.
Former Redskins Cheerleader Jillian Anderson Defends Trump After D.C. Crowd Boos
Jillian Anderson cheered for Washington from 2012 to 2014. She’s seen D.C.’s political climate up close. And she wasn’t shocked by the reception Trump got.
The president attended the game and read the Oath of Enlistment to service members during halftime. Sections of the crowd booed him loudly but the fact is that he was the first sitting U.S. president in nearly 50 years to attend a regular-season game. Anderson didn’t mince words about the nasty reception Trump got from Commander-in-Chief city.
“I lived in D.C. for 13 years. When I was younger, I kept a lot of my political beliefs to myself because the area is aggressively liberal,” AndersontoldFox News Digital. “Honestly, I’m not surprised parts of the crowd booed him. That’s the same city that has repeatedly elected Mayor Bowser. They clearly don’t know what’s good for them.”
But Anderson found something to celebrate. She specifically talked about Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown who torched the Commanders front seven. He grabbed multiple crucial catches and found the end zone before breaking out Trump’s signature dance move.
He finished with over 80 receiving yards as the Lions dominated the Commanders 44-22.
“I’m from a blue-collar town in the Midwest, and I relate way more to the Detroit Lions player doing the Trump dance,” Anderson said. “The past 10 months of accomplishments while Trump has been in office have been historic. I think the majority of the country agrees, and that liberal crowd isn’t reflective of that.”
Her support for the US president extended beyond just defending him from those nonsense boos. She backed his bigger plans for Commanders’ franchise.
Donald Trump Eyes His Name on Commanders’ New $3.7 Billion Stadium
The Commanders are building a new stadium. And Trump wants his name on it. So, the visit was partially for his own reasons.
The 50-year time gap lined up perfectly with stadium talks. ESPN reported Trump expressed interest in naming rights for the $3.7 billion facility.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt backed the idea, saying, “That would surely be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible.” But White House has not confirmed the report yet.
Anderson’s support for Trump has already divided fans. But it has nothing to do with the game. The Lions won Sunday and improved their playoff chances, while the Commanders suffered another loss due to Jayden Daniel’s injury setback.
