Even with all their injuries, the Green Bay Packers have more pass-catching weapons than the typical NFL team. They also happen to have a gunslinger at quarterback.
That’s why, given the way they’ve failed to run the ball this season, and with starting center Elgton Jenkins most likely out for the season, they could change their approach to the offense.
Analyst Peter Bukowski recently made a case for the Packers to “throw the ball” more often.
“Oh, the protection isn’t holding up? On throws in under 2.5 seconds, Jordan Love is second in EPA/dropback! He’s completing 85% of his passes. THROW THE BALL,” Bukowski wrote on X.
Oh the protection isn't holding up?
On throws in under 2.5 seconds, Jordan Love is 2nd in EPA/dropback!
He's completing 85% of his passes.
THROW THE BALL.

Josh Jacobs is still one of the best running backs in the NFL. Otherwise, his numbers would be even worse behind an offensive line that struggles to run block.
Some argue that head coach Matt LaFleur is not asking that much from quarterback Jordan Love to protect him from himself. He’s known for making bad decisions and turning the ball over in crucial times.
Then again, the Packers may not have much of a choice. Not only is Love arguably playing the best football of his career, but stubbornly sticking to the run could cost LaFleur his job.
The offense has struggled to score in back-to-back home losses to the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles. Things can’t get much worse, and if Love is truly their franchise quarterback, they might as well lean on him.
