**As sure as night turns to day, when a football club starts to underperform even a bit, there will be pockets of fans calling for the manager's head, and despite everything he's done over his four years at Newcastle United, Eddie Howe is not exempt from that rule.**
While we won't sit here and blow smoke, saying that everything is fine at Newcastle United right now, we wouldn't insult your intelligence like that, we will say that we aren't panicking.
Our Premier League form, particularly away from home, is certainly alarming, but beyond that, there's plenty of other things going right. Our home form is fine, and our form in the cups is spot on.
There's also the fact that Howe had a similar run last season with loads of fans calling for his sacking, only for him to guide us to lifting the Carabao Cup and to qualify for the Champions League. We know that if we stick with him, he'll right the ship.

David Hopkinson has no plans to axe Eddie Howe
Newcastle insiders are 'bemused' at the idea that Eddie Howe is under pressure
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Club insiders also have no intention of rushing to such drastic action, according to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/11/13/newcastle-united-eddie-howe-full-backing-yoane-wissa/), who report that Ross Wilson and David Hopkinson are giving Eddie Howe their unequivocal backing.
Indeed, Luke Edwards' report states that insiders are bemused at the very thought that Eddie Howe would be under pressure.
There's a 'calm determination' behind the scenes that things will be back on track sooner rather than later.
We will back Eddie Howe until it becomes impossible to do so
------------------------------------------------------------
We will keep backing Eddie Howe until we feel there is no other option. He has earned that right as far as we're concerned.
That doesn't mean, however, that we feel he is above criticism. It's one thing to be a 'happy clapper' and another to be realistic. We will call out poor decisions as and when we need to, but unless we specifically say so, it doesn't mean we're calling for the axe to fall.
At the end of the day, Eddie Howe delivered a trophy to this club, and that puts a lot of credit in the bank.
