Arne Slot shocked the Premier League last season, guiding Liverpool to their 20th top-flight title in his first year at the helm.

That triumph was followed by a blockbuster summer transfer window, with the Reds spending over £400million in a flurry of arrivals and departures.

However, the harsh reality of a new campaign has now set in.

Liverpool currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, having suffered five defeats in just 11 matches.

Slot is under pressure, with fans and pundits alike debating how the Dutchman can steady the ship and get the most out of his revamped squad.

While Liverpool could turn to the January transfer window in search of reinforcements, several players are approaching the final six months of their contracts.

From January 1, they will be free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with clubs outside England.

Below are the players who will be eligible to do so:

Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate has been offered a new contract by Liverpool, but he is yet to reach an agreement.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Konate on a free transfer next summer.

The 26-year-old’s future could also be influenced by the situation surrounding Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace, who both Liverpool and Los Blancos are reportedly monitoring.

While a January exit for Konate appears unlikely, the Spanish giants previously expressed interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold at the start of 2025 and ultimately signed him ahead of the Club World Cup.

This means Konate would be free to open talks with Real Madrid in the new year.

Andy Robertson

Andy Robertson says he is relaxed about his future at Anfield, despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Atletico Madrid showed interest in signing the Scotland international over the summer, ahead of Milos Kerkez’s arrival.

However, given Kerkez’s struggles, the Reds could offer the 31-year-old a new contract.

Speaking to reporters after the defeat at Manchester City, Robertson said of his future: “The relationship between me and the club has been a wonderful one.

“They’ve done everything for me, in terms of me and my family.

“I think I’ve not been too bad for them in terms of signing from Hull for £8 million and what I’ve done!

“Whatever happens will happen behind closed doors, I’m relaxed about the whole situation.

“If it is my last year, then it’s my last year. If it’s not, then so be it.

“I had a bit of a stressful summer in terms of decisions. I’ve said to myself, ‘just try and enjoy the next few months’ and then, obviously it will start probably taking over my life.

“That’s what happens when you go into your last six months.”

Freddie Woodman

Freddie Woodman moved to Liverpool on a free transfer during the summer, following the expiration of his contract with Preston North End.

With Alisson sidelined through injury, Woodman has served as backup to Giorgi Mamardashvili, starting in the 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in October.

The Reds hold an option to extend his contract for an additional year.

Rhys Williams

Liverpool academy graduate Rhys Williams, who spent time on loan at League Two side Morecambe during Arne Slot’s first season, was an unused substitute against Southampton in the Carabao Cup in September.

Despite a shortage of options at centre-back following Giovanni Leoni’s ACL injury at the start of the campaign, Williams is yet to make an appearance in any of the three competitions Liverpool have participated in so far.
