Jordan Love has been one of the most debated figures in the NFL. Some still have their doubts about the Green Bay Packers quarterback and his ability to lead them to a championship.
However, with the team struggling to get anything going on the ground and Love looking like an MVP candidate at times, it might be time to trust him more. With that in mind, Love recently spoke out about taking control of the Packers’ offense.
“You just want the pressure to be on you, be able to get the team out of funks. At the end of the day, there’s 11 players on the field for a reason. We gotta trust everybody on the field and players gotta make plays when the ball comes their way. Can’t be out there playing Superman ball, kind of do too much at times. You just gotta trust the process and take it one play at a time. I love having the ball in my hands at all times, and I love that pressure,” Love said.

Some people think that head coach Matt LaFleur is trying to protect Love from himself. Given Love’s history of making erratic throws and playing hero ball, LaFleur wants to prevent his quarterback from putting the ball in harm’s way.
While that makes sense to a degree, the Packers won’t go anywhere unless the head coach trusts his quarterback. Also, it’s not like those inside runs and screen passes are doing much to help the offense.
If anything, Love’s downfield throws have a higher potential reward than having him toss the ball behind the line of scrimmage. He has a great arm and can make passes from all angles, so they need to use his talent.
This will be a make-or-break stretch for both LaFleur and Love. They need to trust one another and prove that they can lead this team. Otherwise, there may not be much of a point in keeping either of them around.
