The rich always find ways to get richer, and the Philadelphia Eagles usually do the same. General manager Howie Roseman pulled off another masterclass at the NFL trade deadline, acquiring Miami Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips.

The Eagles just had to give up a third-round pick to land a player who could become a big part of their future. Notably, he didn’t need much time to make a strong impression.

Phillips was one of the best players on the field in their Week 10 road win against the Green Bay Packers. With that in mind, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio gushed about the Eagles’ new star defender.

“He plays hard. He’s strong at the point. When you shop at Nordstrom, you get good stuff,” Fangio said.

Fangio was familiar with Phillips from their time together with Miami. So that made him a seamless fit in his debut.

The Eagles’ defense hadn’t been able to put as much pressure on the quarterback as in previous years. Unlike most teams, they decided to do something about it. Once again, they showed what other teams are supposed to do at the deadline.

Now, the defending Super Bowl champions have solved one of their few flaws. They’re riding a three-game winning streak heading into their high-profile Week 11 game against the Detroit Lions.

The Eagles may not be as dominant as they were last season, but they continue to win games, and that’s all that matters.
