LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - A former Decatur High School football standout and NFL player is in jail after being arrested in Lawrence County.
Kemontae Hayes was arrested on Sunday after deputies discovered he had felony warrants out of New Jersey.
WAFF 48’s media partners at the Decatur Daily report that the warrants were for sexual assault and weapons charges.
Hayes graduated from Decatur High School in 2015.
He then earned a scholarship to play football at Appalachian State.
He later spent time with several NFL teams for four years.
Hayes was released by the New York Jets following a marijuana arrest in Trinity last year.
