Lions add CB to injury report as starting Te misses second straight practice

ALLEN PARK -- Amik Robertson was added to the injury report for the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

Robertson managed to participate on a limited capacity, but his hamstring injury is a new one to watch for as the weekend approaches.

And with Terrion Arnold in concussion protocol and DJ Reed just returning to practice on Wednesday, Robertson is in line for another start at outside cornerback. Lions coach Dan Campbell previously said he was targeting an early December return for Reed, so the starting cornerback still feels a couple of weeks away.

Robertson has been starting at outside cornerback since Reed went down with his hamstring injury. If he’s able to play against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday night, expect Robertson and Rock Ya-Sin to get another start as the outside cornerback duo.

Perhaps more concerning is that starting tight end Sam LaPorta has not practiced this week. LaPorta is listed with a back injury, and the Lions added veteran tight end Anthony Firkser to their practice squad earlier this week.

On top of that, fellow tight end Brock Wright is working through an ankle injury. Wright missed Wednesday’s practice, working to the side with trainers. But he was back on the practice field in a limited capacity the next day.

Campbell will speak with reporters on Friday morning, so expect an update on LaPorta then.

Arnold, LaPorta, safety Kerby Joseph (knee) and defensive lineman Pat O’Connor (knee) were the four players to miss Thursday’s practice.

The Lions listed 10 players as limited, as well. Edge defender Marcus Davenport (shoulder), offensive tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), offensive lineman Miles Frazier (knee), edge defender Josh Paschal, running back Jacob Saylors (back), offensive tackle Penei Sewell (ankle), running back Sione Vaki (ankle), Wright, Reed and Robertson.

Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson (elbow) and center Graham Glasgow (back) returned to full practice participation. Malcolm Rodriguez (knee) was a full participation as he nears his return. The linebacker is in the third and final week of his 21-day acclimation window as he works back from last year’s ACL injury.
