Fabrizio Romano delivers verdict on Chelsea move for Real Madrid star

Fabrizio Romano has rubbished rumours of Chelsea’s talks for Rodrygo Goes, as he insists that it is not the case in the chase for the Real Madrid star.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are not in talks with Rodrygo Goes or his camp ahead of the January window despite rumours stating otherwise. Recent reports insisted the Blues are thinking about the possibility of signing the Real Madrid star amid stories that the Brazilian was ready to quit the Santiago Bernabeu.

Rodrygo Goes’ future hangs in the balance at Real Madrid following a below-par start to the new campaign. There were heavy reports back in the summer linking the Brazilian away from the Santiago Bernabeu, after he barely played much during the Club World Cup campaign.

While the Brazilian ended up staying at Real Madrid under the notion of fighting for his place and regaining the faith of Xabi Alonso, he has only started twice in La Liga. In the other games he has come off the bench, the winger has not played more than 20 minutes per match, which has now cast serious doubts about his immediate future at the Bernabeu.

Rodrygo is already contemplating a departure from the club, which has sparked fresh rumours and links with some of the top Premier League sides. Real Madrid are reportedly willing to slash their asking price from their massive demands back in the summer, as there’s a huge chance for the Brazilian to leave in search of regular minutes elsewhere in a World Cup year.

Manchester City are seen as a viable destination, and the report linking Pep Guardiola’s side also mentions Chelsea as an ‘observer’ of the winger. The Blues were linked with Rodrygo recently, but the same report stated that there are multiple layers of complications, notably the club’s objective of not disrupting the development of key emerging stars like Estevao.

Chelsea are not in Rodrygo talks

As a blow to some of the Stanford Bridge fanbase, Fabrizio Romano has quashed rumours that Chelsea are in talks with Real Madrid for Rodrygo. The journalist did confirm links with Manchester City from back in the summer, while insisting that there’s still a possibility for the Real Madrid star to leave the club in January.

However, from a Chelsea standpoint, Romano dismissed the notion of the club holding talks for the winger and insisted they are not expected to hold in the future. Hence, while the case of the Brazilian remains open, the Blues are not expected to =be part of the hunt ahead of January as things stand.
