**Former Chelsea captain John Terry believes that Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne fell foul of the club’s “demanding” training sessions during their time at Stamford Bridge.**
Both players have gone on to become Premier League greats, at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, but when speaking about why the pair didn’t realise their potential with the Blues, Terry said:
“Kevin de Bruyne came in, Mo Salah came in, have gone on to be absolute world beaters in the game, like incredible players. They come in at a time where they wasn’t ready for the group.”
“Now, they showed little bits of quality, but I have to say the level that we had at training was as hard as I’ve ever known training in our time. You know, people coming in that are really good, experienced players, just not understanding the level and falling by the wayside very quickly. It was very demanding.”
Salah came to Liverpool with something to prove
-----------------------------------------------
Speaking not long after he moved to Anfield in 2018, the Egyptian international revealed how his experience at Chelsea inspired him to become an even better player on his return to England:
“I was here with Chelsea, didn’t get my chance, and then came back. I wanted to show everyone my football.”
It does suggest that without that failure, [**Salah**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-mo-salah-rooney/) may never have gone on to have the phenomenal career he has had with Liverpool.
Will the Reds legend stay beyond the end of the season?

Salah’s poor form this campaign has led many to question whether he will be at Anfield that much longer. At 33 years of age, some think the forward may now be over the hill.
He has, though, proved people wrong in the past, and you wouldn’t put it past him if he manages to recapture his performances of past seasons.
