U21s boss Carsley challenges Scott to maintain levels that saw him called up

ENGLAND U21s boss Lee Carsley has challenged Alex Scott to make sure he continues to put himself in a position to be picked for the senior side, after he had his first call up last week.

While Scott was not involved in Thomas Tuchel’s side last night against Serbia, he was named in the squad after impressing for the [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au) and for Carsley’s team that won the Euros in the summer.

And Carsley said Scott is doing all the right things at the moment – but he must continue to perform to keep himself in the squads.

“We had a good look at all of the data in the past of winners of the tournament and the correlation between them going on to represent the senior team,” Carsley said.

“It’s so important how they do at their clubs, Alex is in that bracket that he’s playing well week in week out at Bournemouth and they’re obviously doing really well as well in the league, so it’s great that’s he got his opportunity.

“But I wouldn’t say getting there is the easy thing, it’s staying there that’s the challenge and making sure you’re putting yourself in the position where you are selectable and Alex is definitely in that position.

“A player that I absolutely loved working with, he really shone in the summer. I’m sure you all saw he was an outstanding player in the summer, along with Elliot \[Anderson\].”
