Zach Lowe suggests Bucks could trade for Western Conference superstar

Although many players are being discussed, Anthony Davis is not the answer to the Milwaukee Bucks’ current challenges. Yet, on the latest episode of The Zach Lowe Show, the NBA analyst sketched out a scenario that would land the star in Milwaukee, sparked by the recent shakeup in Dallas after the Mavericks terminated former general manager Nico Harrison.

“The Bucks always seem to pull a rabbit out of a hat. You could make a deal of [Kyle] Kuzma plus Myles Turner plus a first round pick for Anthony Davis,” Lowe remarked.

Is Anthony Davis a beast when healthy? That’s a resounding yes. He has earned 10 All-Star selections, five All-NBA honors, and a spot on the 75th Anniversary Team for a reason. The problem is that he rarely stays healthy enough to consistently make an impact. Injuries have long been Davis’ biggest obstacle, and this season is no different, as he has played in only five games for Dallas in 2025-26. He is currently sidelined with a calf strain, a risk the Bucks would likely avoid.

Health has consistently been the Bucks’ biggest challenge in recent seasons. Khris Middleton spent large stretches sidelined, which hurt the team’s consistency, and Damian Lillard battled injuries during his short tenure with the franchise. The organization was unwilling to wait for him to return, ultimately releasing Lillard and taking on significant dead money to bring in Myles Turner.

The possibility of the Bucks trading for Anthony Davis

The Bucks are focused on Giannis’ championship window and while a healthy Davis could provide a boost, there is no guarantee they would get that luxury. Even if he does suit up, Davis is not an ideal fit for Milwaukee. Giannis Antetokounmpo thrives with big men who can space the floor, and Davis is not that type of player, connecting on just 29.5 percent of his career three-point attempts.

While they would be a formidable defensive duo, their offensive styles would probably conflict, resulting in a less fluid and awkward fit on that side of the court.

Although Davis may have more star power, he is not a better fit for Milwaukee than Myles Turner. Turner excels from long range, connecting on 36.8 percent of a career-high 5.7 three-point attempts per game.

A move for Davis simply does not make sense for the Bucks. While the team could benefit from a trade, the focus should be on adding a defensive-minded wing rather than bringing in an aging star with a chronic injury history.
