Al-Ahli issue statement on Ivan Toney's future after Everton talks held

Ivan Toney’s future has now been made clear as Everton have been handed an update by Al-Ahli’s director.

Everton are one of the numerous Premier League sides heading into the January window with a real desire to add goals to their team.

The Toffees have struggled to find the back of the net consistently this season, with David Moyes seeing just one goal returned by his two strikers.

Everton News is aware that Everton have held preliminary talks with Toney’s camp over a potential move in the winter market.

However, the deal has a number of issues to it, which are making a possible return to the Premier League extremely difficult.

And the Saudi Pro League side’s director, Rui Pedro Braz, has now shared his stance on potentially allowing Toney to depart.

Al-Ahli shut down potential Ivan Toney move to Everton

Everton are keen to sign a striker in January, with Thierno Barry and Beto failing to find their shooting boots in the early stages of the season.

There is a belief that Barry will come good and show his full potential on Merseyside, but Everton need goals now.

Ally McCoist has urged Everton to land Toney in the winter market, as he could transform their side.

But it is looking like a deal which is going to be extremely complicated to get over the line in what is notoriously a tricky market to operate in.

Everton may need to look elsewhere in January

Ultimately, January is not a window where Everton are going to be afforded the time to wait until the very last minute to land Toney.

Speaking to Everton News, transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey shared the doubts he has heard about Toney even pushing for a move back to England.

“What I’m being told, the clubs are not entirely convinced that Ivan Toney wants to move and will move,” Bailey told Everton News.

David Bentley thinks Toney would be perfect for Tottenham Hotspur, but even Spurs face disappointment in the coming window.

Everton need to add goals in January, and they cannot afford to simply chase Toney all month when the stance over his future is becoming clear.
