Everton’s Thierno Barry admits receiving advice from former Arsenal flop after Toffees move

Everton striker Thierno Barry has endured a slow start to life in the Premier League but is hopefully turning a corner.

Everton needed a new striker over the summer as Dominic Calvert-Lewin departed on a free transfer.

The Toffees snapped up Thierno Barry after his impressive campaign in La Liga with Villarreal.

Barry has yet to find the net in the Premier League and has looked more than a little raw.

Barry showed encouraging signs against Fulham, though, and looks to be David Moyes’ first-choice striker for now.

Everton’s Thierno Barry admits advice from Nicolas Pepe

Barry has been active on social media this season, and he also dabbles on YouTube.

Barry posted videos during his season with Villarreal, and has now uploaded his first video since joining Everton.

The French striker showed off his house and his shirt collection, all while discussing his start to life at Everton.

Barry also talked about leaving Villarreal and the friendships he has maintained with former teammates.

Barry noted that he still talks to Logan Costa, Pape Gueye and Willy Kambwala, but especially to recent Everton target Nicolas Pepe.

The Everton striker admitted that former Arsenal flop Pepe talks to him a lot and offers him important advice.

Barry wished Villarreal all the best, believing that they can do ‘great things’ this season.

“My friends, whether it’s Logan, Pape, Nico, Willy, we talk often, even at the moment, it’s a bit complicated,” said Barry.

“Nico, he talks to me, he gives me advice. Pape too. They’re good people and I had a great season with them, so I wish them all the best this year, whether it’s in the Champions League or the league, and I think they can do great things,” he added.

Nicolas Pepe’s Premier League struggles could help Thierno Barry

Everton fans will remember Pepe’s dismal spell with Arsenal, as he was signed for big money but struggled in the Premier League.

Pepe and Barry teamed up at Villarreal last season and appear to have struck up a strong bond.

Barry has been through a rough start to life in the Premier League, and no striker wants to go 11 games without a goal.

Barry is living through that right now, and Pepe will have certainly learned a thing or two about coping with life in the Premier League.

Pepe has been there and experienced the transition to Premier League football and living in England, two things Barry has never experienced before.

The Ivorian may have been a Premier League flop, but he could be an invaluable resource for Barry as he adjusts to life at Everton.
