Paraguay are said to be concerned about Sunderland defender Omar Alderete’s fitness for November’s international break, according to Versus.
Alderete was concussed in Sunderland’s league win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on October 18th.
The centre-back followed the concussion protocol, forcing him to miss Sunderland’s last three matches against Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal.
On November 6th, we covered claims from Paraguay that he won’t be part of the national team this month. Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris then suggested national minutes could help, and Paraguay boss Gustavo Alfaro included him in the list for the friendlies against USA and Mexico.
The first match is against USA and will take place in Pennsylvania on Saturday at 7pm local time. The report claims there’s a ‘big question mark’ over the Sunderland player’s involvement.
The 28-year-old is still following the FIFA protocol after suffering a concussion with the Black Cats. Versus add Paraguay will evaluate his condition until the last minute to determine whether he can be fit to play in this international break.
The centre-back has made eight appearances for the Premier League side this season.
