Chelsea are considering giving midfielder Moises Caicedo a new contract as a reward for his string start to the season.
That is despite the fact that he signed an eight year deal at the club which runs until 2031 when he joined the club from Brighton in 2023, for what was then a British transfer record fee. And there is also an option to extend that for a further year.
This is not the first time, having signed a player to a long-term contract, that Chelsea have given a player an extension. They did the same with Cole Palmer, and also for Nicolas Jackson, although they then sent the latter on loan to Bayern Munich.
However, the 24-year old has cemented his place at the heart of the Chelsea midfield, and is regarded as integral to the project going forward, not least because of his ability to stay fit.
The Ecuadorean international has missed just three games since he has been at Stamford Bridge.
