Al Ahli director addresses Ivan Toney exit 'rumours' amid Leeds United links

Al Ahli director Rui Pedro Braz has addressed rumours that Ivan Toney could leave the club in January, with Leeds United among several Premier League clubs reported to be interested.

Daniel Farke made no secret of his disappointment that Leeds failed to bring in another striker ahead of the new Premier League season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was brought in to address Leeds’ lack of options in attack; however, with just one goal so far this season, Farke remains keen to add to his forward line in January.

Ivan Toney was one name mentioned with a potential switch to Elland Road, although Leeds United News understands he is not currently being considered by Leeds.

Now, Al Ahli’s Rui Pedro Braz has stated that he does not expect Toney to leave in January, as the Whites turn their attentions elsewhere.

Al Ahli director denies Ivan Toney will make a Premier League return in January

Speaking via transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), Braz denied that Toney will leave the club in the January transfer window.

Several Premier League clubs, including Everton, West Ham and Tottenham, have been linked with a move to bring Toney back to the UK in January.

However, according to Braz, the club still consider Toney to be a “top striker” and Al Ahli do not plan on sanctioning an exit.

Daniel Farke’s system means Leeds United do not need Toney

Although Calvert-Lewin has struggled for goals so far this season, Lukas Nmecha showed his finishing prowess in the defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Joel Piroe has also been consigned to the bench so far for the majority of this season, meaning Leeds have plenty of options to play in the number nine role.

With Farke sticking rigidly to playing one central striker, a move for Toney does not make sense, as this would mean Farke would be forced to leave three strikers out every week.

Having missed out on a late move for Harry Wilson, it is clear that Leeds were in the market for wingers at the end of the window. With the likes of Jhon Jhon linked with Leeds in recent days, strengthening the wide areas of Farke’s squad should remain the number one priority.
