Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has been on quite a football journey. Still just 46 years old, Hafley has a long resume that reflects his several stops from college to the pros, back to college, and then to the pros again.
But New Jersey is one that will always be close to his heart. After all, he is from Montvale, New Jersey.
So there’s no surprise that this coming Sunday’s game in Week 11 of the 2025 NFL season between the Packers and the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford will feel like a homecoming for Hafley, who is handling one of the best defenses in the NFL today.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been back there, and I have a lot of memories of Giants Stadium back when I was a kid,” Hafley told reporters after Green Bay’s practice on Thursday, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. “It’ll be a cool experience to coach there and have my family there to see it.”
Hafley also spent time in the past as the defensive backs coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights before he jumped to the pros, first as an assistant defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hafley will look to get his defense ready again for Week 11’s matchup against a Giants’ banged-up offense that’s missing key players like quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo.
Under Hafley, Green Bay this season is allowing just 91.6 rushing yards per game and 195.4 passing yards per outing — both top 10 in the NFL.
