Massive for Slot: Liverpool will now go"all out"to sign"exceptional"25 y/o in January

Liverpool want to complete the signing of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi in the January transfer window, according to a significant new transfer claim.

The Reds’ failure to sign Guehi on deadline day felt like a big blow at the time, and that has proven to be the case in the early months of this season.

The 25-year-old would have been a superb addition, likely replacing the out-of-form Ibrahima Konate, and it is even more frustrating because he had even agreed a £35m move, only for Palace to prevent the transfer from going through.

Guehi still remains a leading option for Liverpool in 2026, however, with his Palace deal expiring at the end of this season, and now a new update has dropped regarding his future.

According to Football Insider, the Reds “will make a strong push” for the England international in January, with the Premier League champions now willing to go “all out” to sign him midway through the current campaign, in a boost for Arne Slot.

Can Guehi solve Liverpool’s defensive woes?

This will be music to the ears of many Liverpool supporters, considering Guehi is arguably one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League currently.

The Palace captain is expected to start for England and next summer’s World Cup, with former Three Lions goalkeeper Joe Hart heaping praise on him last year:

“Huge shoutout to Marc Guehi. I thought he was exceptional. He really stepped in and was really calm on the ball. I thought Guehi allowed John Stones to play his game. The more Marc plays, the better that [centre-back] partnership will get.”

There really is very little not to like about the idea of Guehi in a Liverpool shirt, and while he won’t solve their defensive issues on his own, he could be a fantastic addition to the back-line, bringing calm and quality to it.

His best years should still be to come, too, assuming he avoids serious injury, and if the Reds beat other top clubs to his signature in January, it would be a big statement, and Palace may be tempted to cash in on him instead of losing him on a free transfer.
