Exclusive: Everton scouts in attendance to watch specific player in Republic of Ireland vs…

Everton scouts have been put to work in recent weeks as the Toffees consider options to bolster their strike force in January.

David Moyes is in desperate need of a striker he can rely on to provide a consistent stream of goals in the second half of the season.

Everton News has already reported on Everton’s intentions to sign a striker in January following underwhelming starts to the season from Beto and Thierno Barry.

There are a lot of options out there for Everton, but one is already looking incredibly unlikely with the window weeks away.

Al-Ahli have informed clubs that Ivan Toney will not leave Saudi Arabia in January despite the interest coming from the Premier League.

Earlier this week, Everton News shared the understanding that Everton had spoken to Toney’s camp, but a deal is viewed as incredibly unlikely.

Work remains ongoing in the background as Everton News has learnt which player scouts were watching specifically on Thursday evening.

But he is not the only Irish forward who is on the radar for the Toffees.

Sources have confirmed to Everton News that the Blues had scouts in Dublin on Thursday night, with Troy Parrott being one of the main reasons for their attendance.

"I'm overwhelmed. I think it's probably the best night I've had in my whole life."

It was the perfect game for Everton representatives to be watching as Parrott netted himself a brace against Portugal.

Everton News can reveal that scouts have been watching Parrott all season during his domestic campaign with AZ Alkmaar.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker is one of many strikers across the continent who Everton have their eye on ahead of January.

Everton remain confident in Barry, but it is becoming clear that he is a player who is going to need time to show his true potential on Merseyside.

It was a Man of the Match performance for Parrott, who netted both goals for the Republic of Ireland in a crucial World Cup Qualifier against Portugal.

It has been a seriously impressive campaign for the 23-year-old, who is now into his second season with AZ after leaving Spurs.

Moyes was open to signing two strikers in the summer, but he had to settle for just landing Barry from Villarreal.

More is going to be needed in January and the Blues could potentially offer Parrott with an opportunity to finally prove himself in the Premier League.

The young striker made the move to Tottenham back in 2017, but he only played a mere 96 minutes for the senior side.

It may prove a big ask for him to leave behind a successful campaign in Eredivisie, but Everton are watching him closely.
