It has certainly been a roller coaster ride for Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Adoree' Jackson, who is just trying to earn the respect from the team and the fan base.
The veteran cornerback has been in and out of the lineup as the CB2, but has been wildly inconsistent. Since the quick departure of Jaire Alexander, Jackson appears to be in line to hold the job for the time being.
While in his press conference, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio acknowledged that the acquisition of Michael Carter II could potentially see Cooper DeJean move to the outside. Fangio was standing by Jackson at CB2, though, with a rare compliment being pointed towards the cornerback's way.
“I’m not surprised. He’s a survivor. I think this is his ninth or tenth year, so if you’ve survived that long, you’ve got a little something in ya. Hopefully, he can take that game, build on it, and keep playing good.”
Could Jackson maintain the CB2 job the rest of the season?
It's been the one position that has seen the most criticism, as Jackson and Kelee Ringo have struggled mightily to be consistent there. This season, Jackson has racked up 26 tackles and five pass deflections in seven games (four of them starts). He has posted a PFF overall grade of 49.8, which ranks 102nd out of 109 cornerbacks.
Jackson is coming off a solid performance in the Eagles' 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, which saw him post three tackles and one pass deflection.
For some of his faults in coverage, Jackson is actually one of the better tacklers on the defense. The problem with Jackson is that he plays too soft in coverage, but that could be more of Fangio calling a play that won't have Jackson get burned.

It appears that, for the time being, Jackson will retain his CB2 job, but the Eagles must see more consistency from him. Carter is chomping at the bit to get into the lineup at nickel, so Jackson has no room to mess up.
