Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 11/14: Cheap Tickets and Rare Commodities

CLEVELAND, OHIO (TheOBR.com) - Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans! We hope you have a happy Friday as we careen into a weekend of football.

THE DAILY BLOVIATION

TICKETS ARE EASY TO COME BY: If you want to see the Browns' afternoon kick against the Ravens, that should be easily achievable as tickets can be had for as little as $7 on ticket resellers.

It's sort of an annual tradition that Browns news sites write an article about how inexpensive resale tickets are once the Browns settle into their usual humdrum losing ways. So, this bloviation represents this year's entry.

Per usual, only a small section of Browns fans seems interested, even as ticket prices plummet. OBR forum participant "JoeyJoJoJuniorShabadoo" writes, "At this point, the Haslams should pay fans to attend", which might be a usable business model given the markup on food and drinks inside the facility.

KardiacKidd43 writes "I'd rather spend more to stay home", and Paslowski writes "If it was 75 and sunny you could possibly talk me into going for seven dollars. But with any chance of relatively nasty or cold weather, not a chance in hell.".

What usually happens here is that the Stadium becomes somewhat more of a neutral field, as fans of the Browns' opponent snap up tickets so that they can root for their despicable franchises in person. This makes the stadium experience less pleasant as well. Ugh. It's only mid-November.

PAUL DEPODESTA CAN'T ESCAPE THE WATSON QUESTIONS: Browns ex-Chief Strategy Office Paul DePodesta continues to get peppered by questions about the team's deal for Deshaun Watson as he takes over the Colorado Rockies. He was asked a rather blunt question, suggesting that he assure Rockies fans that it won't happen again.

DePodesta tried to joke his way through it, but the stench of the deal continues to cling to all involved. Pro Football Talk, generally harsher on the team than outlets that cover the Browns daily, hammers DePodesta again today, comparing the Browns quartet responsible for the deal to former Vikings GM Mike Lynn, who lived out his life being criticized for the Herschel Walker deal with the Cowboys.

It should be noted that Lynn is criticized because an intrusive team owner was unable to pull off a deal for Walker himself. His name was Art Modell.

WAIT! IT GETS WORSE!! Throughout the 2025 draft season, and especially following the Browns' trade-down to pick up another 2026 first-rounder, all eyes looked forward to the 2026 quarterback class, which included such standouts as Arch Manning, Fernando Mendoza, LaNorris Sellers, Carson Beck, Garrett Nussmeier, and more. Other options, like Ty Simpson, are considered risky due to a limited one-season window of opportunity to see them at work.

Of that heralded group, only Mendoza really remains a top QB pick option, and talent evaluators are increasingly waving their hands and saying "Meh" to the 2026 quarterback class, already turning their eyes to the 2027 class. This is a potential disaster for the Browns, who badly need a top QB pick as they once again search for a solution at that position.

Of course, the best scenario for the Browns is that Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel makes that need irrelevant, which, uh, doesn't seem to have happened quite yet. If that were the case, the Browns could make moves for offensive line and wide receiver talent to address those two needs. But that seems to be a fantasy at this point. The Athletic (paywalled) has an article about the situation today, but it's not a must-read unless you're already subscribed to the site. Ain't a bad read though.

TEAM REPORT CARDS ON THE WAY OUT? In what might be good news for the perennially struggling Browns franchise, the NFL is fighting the release of the NFLPA's team "report cards". The Browns finished in the bottom five last year, an embarrassment that likely doesn't help the team attract top free agents.

The NFL's grievance states that releasing the report cards violates the CBA, which prevents players from "publicly criticizing any member club".

Jimmy Haslam, of course, is investing huge dollars in the Browns' facilities and the team's capabilities. Given the team's luck, the completion of these efforts (and the new domed stadium) will likely coincide with the report cards extinction.

Have a good one! GO BROWNS!

5 'foods of the future' that could help save the planet - (goodgoodgood.co)

One of the things about our success as a species is that there are an awful lot of us, particularly on the roads when you're trying to get to work. One of the challenges is feeding this huge crowd, but innovative culinary folks are trying to turn new crops into food items. They've got a big sales job ahead of them to try to get me to eat crickets, but the rest of this list doesn't seem horrible. Well, Lionfish seem kinda horrible since I hate seafood, but I assume that people willing to eat oysters would be game to give it a try.
