Liverpool are reportedly tracking Germany international Serge Gnabry, whose future at Bayern Munich remains in doubt. The ex-Arsenal winger has enjoyed a remarkable stint in Bavaria following his 2017 arrival.

He has turned out 298 times for the German champions across all competitions, finding the net 97 times. Despite his considerable achievements with Bayern, it seems his tenure at the club may be drawing to a close.

Gnabry, 30, sees his current deal expire at the season's end and would be eligible to negotiate with overseas clubs regarding a free transfer from January. According to Sky in Germany, Arne Slot's Liverpool are among the sides monitoring him ahead of a possible move.

His availability without a transfer fee has reportedly placed him on their radar, with the Reds eager to secure a budget-friendly addition to preserve resources for other squad areas.

Anfield officials have already made preliminary enquiries. His top-level pedigree is also viewed as an appealing factor by Liverpool.

Whilst the Reds maintain interest, they face rivalry from Juventus. Bayern Munich also haven't abandoned hopes of retaining Gnabry at the Allianz Arena, with discussions regarding a contract renewal ongoing.

The German powerhouses would be prepared to offer fresh terms, but only with a reduced salary package.

Speaking during the summer, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany expressed his desire to keep the attacker.

He said: "Look, this a very underrated player. There are outside opinions, but also our opinion and the opinions of his teammates. He's an underrated player with very few weaknesses."

"He's still important," Kompany added. "And he's always been very important for Bayern during important games in the past. If one's honest, there's few highlight reels without goals and assists from Serge."

Gnabry began his professional journey with Arsenal, featuring 18 times and netting once for the Gunners. He endured an unsuccessful loan stint with West Bromwich Albion before departing permanently for Werder Bremen, where he found the net 11 times during his single campaign.

Gnabry was subsequently transferred to Bayern, who promptly sent him on loan to Hoffenheim. The winger has remained a crucial component of the Bavarian outfit for the previous eight seasons.
