**Aston Villa and Belgium midfielder Amadou Onana has extolled the virtues of Manchester City forward Jeremy Doku following his recent heroics.**
Doku has been in sensational form for Manchester City in recent months and marked the best week of his career at the Etihad Stadium with five-star displays against Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool last week.
The 23-year-old starred on the left wing against Dortmund in a 4-1 triumph for the Blues and was at his supreme best against Liverpool as he put the Reds backline to the sword and marked his first Premier League goal of the campaign with a stunning strike from distance to put the game to bed.
Manchester City are undergoing a period of transition in the backdrop of a busy transfer window wherein director of football Hugo Viana conducted a significant revamp of the first-team dressing room and signed off on a series of notable exits from Pep Guardiola’s star-studded ranks.
Guardiola has been critical of a lack of attacking output from Manchester City’s wide attackers this term as the Blues continue to heavily rely on the formidable Erling Haaland in front of goal, with the Norway international already in pole position to claim the Premier League Golden Boot.
However, Doku has started to show glimpses of hope that he can go from strength to strength and kick on from his recent purple patch to pull his weight in the final third as Manchester City look to challenge for major trophies after a sobering 2024-25 season wherein Guardiola and co finished trophyless.
In a new interview, Aston Villa and Belgium midfielder Amadou Onana has heaped praise upon his international teammate and has encouraged Doku to maintain his recent form for club and country ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“He is becoming more important. He’s also refined and perfected his game a lot,” Onana said, as quoted by [RTL Info](https://www.rtl.be/sport/football/diables-rouges/amadou-onana-encense-jeremy-doku-lun-des-tops-ailiers-au-monde-tout-simplement/2025-11-12/article/770207) and relayed by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/intrinsic-quality-aston-villa-man-thinks-manchester-city-star-is-one-of-the-top-in-the-world/).
“(Doku) is much more effective now. I think he’s, for me, one of the best wingers in the world, quite simply, if we’re talking about intrinsic quality.
“I’m happy to see him shine in the Premier League and I hope he’ll be in the same form as City for this upcoming match (World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan on Saturday).”
Doku will be desperate to nail down the left wing spot at Manchester City as he finally starts to show consistency in his end product at the Etihad Stadium, having been in and out of Guardiola’s preferred starting XI in his first two seasons in England since joining City from Rennes in the summer of 2023.
