Leeds United send scouts to watch £40m-rated sensation also admired by West Ham - report

FootballTalk - Episode 210: Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Rob Edwards' sour exit from Middlesbrough

Leeds United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Midtjylland sensation Franculino Djú.

The 21-year-old has been making waves in Denmark, establishing himself among the most exciting young marksmen in Europe.

He has already racked up 19 goals this season, providing a regular supply in domestic competitions and the Europa League.

Midtjylland, however, may soon face a fight to hold on to their coveted asset.

Leeds United linked with prolific frontman

According to Leeds United News, the Guinea-Bissau international has been checked out by Leeds scouts.

West Ham United are also said to have taken a look at the prodigy, although he is believed to have a £40m price tag on his head.

Reporter Graeme Bailey said: “He’s got a lot of teams looking at him. West Ham like him a lot, they looked at him in the summer. Midtjylland have put a £40m price tag on him.

“Teams will possibly try to soften that by putting in lesser offers. He’s got an awful lot of interest; I’m told over 20 clubs across Europe like him. Leeds have looked at him, he’s on their radar, they’ve watched him.”

Leeds United’s attacking issues

A £40m outlay for one player is something Leeds may not be keen on, particularly in the middle of the season.

However, the temptation to invest in their attack may prove strong if Daniel Farke’s side continue to struggle in the final third.

The former’s metrics tell a story of a player being starved of service, while the latter has been a bit-part player. Joel Piroe, meanwhile, is still on the hunt for his first Premier League goal.
