The New England Patriots have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season because of quarterback Drake Maye. In his second season with New England, he has entered the MVP conversation as well.

On Thursday night football, his play once again helped the Patriots beat the New York Jets by a final score of 27-14. With the win, New England improves to 9-2 on the season and New York drops to 2-8 on the season. During the game, he completed 25-of-34 passes for 281 yards and one touchdown.

Chad Graff of the Athletic wrote about Maye’s MVP status is growing with the kind of season he is having for New England. OT Will Campbell spoke to the media after the game about he feels about his star quarterback. He said,

“I’m biased. but (he’s the) best player in the NFL.”

Maye is only 23 years old, and he is going to get much better as time goes on. This season, he has completed 71.9% of his passes for 2,836 yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Maye has also rushed for 285 yards on 70 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 4.1 yards per carry. He has done well so far this season, and the Patriots still have six games to play.

New England will next play in week 12 on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals (3-6). The Patriots and Maye are onto Cincinnati and Maye will look to continue to grow his MVP case then.
